Reasons Why Couples File For Divorce

There are many people who consider divorce as their option when they feel that marriage related things are not working for them anymore. You can also consider the same option when you already see some signs your marriage is over and if you so not feel anything towards your partner anymore.

Divorce is a very practical option but it basically depends on the reason why you are going to file for a divorce. People file for divorce because of so many reasons like abuse, abandonment, incompatibility, false expectations and weak commitment and infidelity.

Abuse is among the reasons why people file for divorce is because getting married does not give a person the right to abuse his/her partner in any way. Abuse can be very broad. It does not only pertain to physical abuse which means using violence to the husband or wife, it can also refer to sexual abuse and emotional abuse. All these types of abuse can considered as a good ground for divorce.

Another reason for filing divorce is abandonment. By definition, abandonment happens when the husband or the wife leaves his/her partner for several years or even longer. When the partner does not have any updates or information of the missing partner, he/she can file for divorce.

Incompatibility and false expectations are two of the most common reason why couples file for a divorce. When two people are not compatible with each other, they would definitely have a hard time spending time together and living in the same roof. Because of their irreconcilable differences, being together will just cause them headache and heartache.

False expectations on the other hand happen when the expectations of the husband towards his wife are not met. Sometimes, it is inevitable that a person expects too much and when those expectations are not met, that person tends to get frustrated. These expectations may refer to financial and personal expectations. When couples have these kinds of problems, they will eventually end up divorced.

In marriage, commitment is something that has a great importance. If a couple has a weak commitment to each other, they will easily be swept away by the challenges and problems that will come on their ways. And when a couple has a very weak commitment, it will eventually lead them to become unfaithful.

This is a very common result of weak commitment because strong commitment is the one that can save a couple’s marriage during the tough times. Thus, weak or absence of it will result to divorce.

Despite of all these problems, there are couples that still try to make things work by going through the process of marriage counseling. But does marriage counseling work? This is a very good question and the answer basically depends on the couple.

If they really want to fix everything between them, then marriage counseling will definitely work. But if they are really certain of going on their separate ways, then marriage counseling and other ways that would help save their marriage will be useless.
